EV-DO, woop woop!

Last November, when Erin and I went to the Sprint store to buy her new phone, I asked the nice girl at the store when we'd be getting 'Power Vision' service in the area. Power Vision is Sprint's fancy marketing term for EV-DO. She replied that we could expect it Q1 2007. Lo and behold, it has arrived!

Coverage appears to be spotty, however it works pretty well up here on the hill near Brunswick, and in downtown Troy as well. As of the other day, it doesn't look like Sprint has updated their coverage maps yet, so they may still be in a testing phase. Speeds are a tremendous improvement over the 1xRTT(?) service we had previously. That said I haven't really used it for much just yet; I'll probably need to train myself into remembering that my phone is now a legit mobile device.
