If you don't have one of these things already, you need to get one.
To quote Stephen Colbert, "Guess what nerds, I gots me one!" For a week after its release, I was trying oh so hard to find one of Nintendo's Wii video game consoles. Finally, fortune smiled upon me last Sunday, and I came home with my prize in hand.
So here's the deal.
Wii Sports
You don't even have to buy this game. It comes with the system. IT COMES WITH IT. I cannot stress this enough. Probably the best release title for the system COMES WITH IT. Nintendo's brilliant strategy of INCLUDING A GODDAMN GAME when you buy the system may have reached it's zenith. While I bought three games at launch, I have, without a doubt, invested the most amount of time playing Wii Sports. All my nerdy friends have come over to create Mii's and play the hell out of Tennis and Bowling.
Effin' Zelda
Zelda has not managed to keep my attention but it looks like it'll be fun when I'm done with Wii Sports. It took me forever to figure out how to fish. The controls are a little hard to remember but not unintuitive.
Red Steel
Watching Erin play this game makes me glad that she doesn't handle weapons on a daily basis or is part of the armed forces. The concept of 'cover' is somewhat lost on her, as is reloading before you empty your clip. She seems to like the game though, which is good because she's not a video game type of person. I don't find the controls particularly hard but the story is awful and the voice acting is terrible. It's a fun game though, and got a lot of undue hate, I think.
Monkey Ball
I've played this game twice and it's awful. I'd donate it to charity or something but I wouldn't want to put those kids in any more pain than they already are.
The Wii is a great system and you need to go buy one.
My friend code is 8296-8273-8106-7762. Let me know yours and we'll send messages to each other until Nintendo figures out how the Internet works.
