How much do I hate Long Island? I hate it exactly $2,241 worth. Apparently, that's what I'm going to be paying for auto insurance for the next 6 months. People I've spoken to say "Oh, that's really too much!", but any insurance broker I talk to says "Eh, that's about right." My only recourse right now is to find me a defensive driving course and find it quick. I'm told the high rate is due to a variety of factors, from my age, to my location, to my shoe size. At least in Binghamton I was paying about $600 for 6 months. This didn't make me like Binghamton any more, but at least it was cheaper to get to work.
