Well, Uncle Steve has finally done a few things to piss me off.
First, the OS X Tiger installation media is DVD-ROM only. This isn't really a dealbreaker, but it was unexpected and added annoying complications to the install procedure. It's not a big deal for the Powerbook, Erin's iBook, and the G5 at work -- but Panther came with CD-ROM media, yo. Apple will happily exchange your DVD media for CD-ROMs... for another $10.
Second, Tiger doesn't include any iLife utilities. I specifically asked one of the goons at the Apple Store at Crossgates if Tiger came with iLife '05, to which he said, "Yup, iLife '05!". Either he was desperate to make the $200 bones on the Family Pack box I was waving around (unlikely) or he was just not clued at all. I thought this was great, and caused my pre-buyer's remorse to subside.
Fortunately for Erin, she did an "Archive and Install", which kept all her old Panther-era iLife utilities intact. It's not that I don't think the iLife '05 apps are worth
Like a schmuck, I formatted and reinstalled. Unfortunately, I've been pretty underwhelmed by Tiger so far. Hopefully when I get a chance to mess around with it some more my tune will change.

Bill Gates has a wonderful plan for your life, you know.
I'll usually only put something down if it's worthwhile
I think you blew that with this post.
I'm trying to figure out if that last comment was a botched attempt at spam, or if it was actually supposed to say something comprehensible.
I was able to install iMovie and iPhoto off of "Panther" Disc 2. iPhoto happily updated itself to the "latest" version (2.0.1) when I ran software update.
I also got to play around with the "Dictionary" functionality of Tiger today, and it's pretty cool as well. So that brings my list of complaints down to:
DVD Install Media
Quicktime Pro License
Oh well. I guess you can't move forward without spending some bucks. I'm just glad I've got iMovie and iPhoto back with minimal hassle, and minimal expenditure of discretionary income.
