Area 51 on Google Maps

While I seriously doubt there is anything of interest going on at Area 51 these days, you can get a bird's eye view of the secretive U.S. Military base via Google's new integration with Keyhole.
To get there yourself, search for "Rachel, NV" -- the closest city, and move a few miles west.

Though it's freaky.. if you zoom in on it... it'll say there's no image available for that area and get all gray. This is almost like if you look up the White House and that they photoshopped the roof brown when there are plenty of things on the roof... such as snipers.
The Capitol is completely obscured, and the buildings surrounding the White House are similarly blurred or 'shopped.
As for the 'greyed out' boxes, I'm fairly certain that just means they don't have the data at the quality you're requesting. For example, you'll notice the same thing around Troy, NY -- and there hella ain't any government secrets here.
Isn't a place where no one would look or want to go to the perfect place to hide government secrets?
Area 51's detail has improved! I saw aurora!

Google Earth is now for Mac, I just downloaded it, and the Area 51 site is now in unbelievable detail. You can see individual cars, buildings, etc, and tilt the view to get different looks. This has got to be the best look anyone has ever got at the secret base.
Get Google Earth, and I also recommend searching for Rachel. Also you can look for the giant tan-white blob just north of the base, not sure what that exactly is...
Sorry it is Groom Lake slipped my mind for a minute...
