So, things are in the works for me to go home to see the family. Home, being Long Island. Or, I mean, Albany? Jeremy Zawodny makes a relevant observation:
Just writing this now, I'm wondering if the day will ever come that I don't consider Toledo, Ohio to be "home" instead of where I'm currently living. Do I have to spend more time away than the 25ish years that I lived there? Or maybe I just need to "settle down and get married"?
That's something I've considered too. When people ask me where I live, I often make the mistake of saying "Oh, the south shore of Long Island." But no, that's where I'm from. Or is it? I live in Troy. The capital region doesn't feel like home (yet). Maybe it will someday.
As far as fixing computers go, my Dad can hold his own. I'm guessing I'll have to update some software on the Fedora box I set up for my little brother, but aside from that I don't see too much computer tinkering in my very near future.
Well, aside from work, where fixing things are more "fun" than "work".
Plan is to leave early on the 24th, and ideally not return until late afternoon on the 26th. Christmas only came to our apartment yesterday, as Erin's mom sent a bunch of cookies and a miniature Christmas tree.
