Introduction

Gaim is the GNOME Instant messaging and chat application. It can be used to exchange instant messages and chat with people using the following protocols:

If you are new to instant messaging, please read the Section called Instant Messaging Basics which provides an overview of instant messaging notions and terminology.

Gaim is a free software which can be freely distributed under the terms of GNU General Public License. Gaim is available for Unix and Unix-like operating systems (Linux, FreeBSD) and for Windows.
