gnutls on OS X - This is a step by step guide outlining the procedure for getting gnutls up and running under Mac OS X.
serial port internet - If you've got an old computer with no expansion slots or ethernet port, this is one way to give it a connection to the 'net.

Today I etched my first PCB (printed circuit board) using Tom Gootee's 'toner transfer' method. The results were quite impressive! Basically, you take a blank PCB and iron (yes, IRON) a piece of photo paper with your circuit diagram to it. You then douse it with a bunch of chemicals, and end up with something like this:
